Based on a T.R.U. Story is the debut studio album by Atlanta rapper Tauheed Epps better known by his stage name 2 Chainz, released through Def Jam Recordings via Universal Music Group back during August 2012. The album features several guest appearances from fellow rappers Lil Wayne, Drake, Kanye West, Nicki Minaj and Playaz Circle cohort Dolla Boy along with singer-songwriters, producers The-Dream, Mike Posner, The Weeknd and Chris Brown. The album’s unique production was handled by Brick Squad Monopoly‘s Southside, Mike WiLL Made It, Sonny Digital, Kanye West, Hit-Boy, Drumma Boy, DJ Mustard, Mr. Bangladesh and DJ Spinz, among many others. A little background on the artist shows 2 Chainz began releasing solo material in 2007, while still in Playaz Circle with Dolla Boy, releasing a mixtape that year titled Me Against the World!, during the time, under his former stage name Tity Boi. It wasn’t until early 2011, when he changed his moniker to 2 Chainz, as he perceived it to be more “family friendly,” that his career began to take off and he started getting more songs with more well known featured artists within the industry. “This isn’t an image for me,” says 2 Chainz, as he talks about his highly stylized couture type profile. He reveals saying back, “in ’07 I was saying, ‘Walk into the Gucci store, honey, I’m home.’ That’s just who I am. I just feel like fashion has been a part of my artistic expression as well as my wordplay. I’m just enjoying life. I’m getting people to actually smile when they listen to my music.” Check out his new video for Extremely Blessed featuring The Dream » Read more..

Hot Music Video – Neighborhood Hoez – Freddie Gibbs ft 2 Chainz
Cold Day In Hell is a mixtape by rapper Freddie Gibbs. It was recorded between 2009-2011 with stops and assistance by Young Jeezy‘s Corporate Thugz. It was released on October 31, confirmed features by Young Jeezy, Dom Kennedy, Freeway, Juicy J, Sly Polaroid, Alley Boy, 2 Chainz and Scrilla. Here is a recent write up from Pitchfork Media talking about Freddie Gibbs‘ latest mixtape: It leaked during a 48-hour-period in which new hip-hop tapes were dropping every five minutes. More than a few of these artists were capitalizing off the hype that surrounded A$AP Rocky‘s debut record LiveLoveA$AP, a release the internet noise machine took up as its latest cause. Freddie Gibbs may remember that honeymoon period well; a couple of years back, he was the focus of this ruthless media blitz, an artist who rocketed suddenly from major-label reject to being mentioned in The New Yorker. It was an odd position for a rapper whose persona often felt like a simple amalgamation of 1990s Rap-A-Lot Records. One of the unfortunate things about this hype cycle is its obsession with novelty at the expense of quality; Gibbs isn’t a new artist any more, but Cold Day in Hell is arguably his most well-rounded, accomplished offering. He is definitely getting it in. Check out his new video after the jump… » Read more..
